The Waves DTS is a life-changing experience to "Know God and to make Him known". It’s a time to seek God's face, hear His voice, and discover your destiny! It’s a time to focus on Jesus and hear His heartbeat for the nations, then step out of your comfort zone and give it all for God! It’s the adventure of a lifetime. We’re Making Waves in the Nations – our heart is to see young people gain a passion for Jesus and make a difference in the nations. We call it a Waves DTS because we believe that people who enjoy the surf culture make great missionaries. They are crazy enough to eat anything and sleep anywhere to surf great waves. We want to release this energy and have people who are so passionate for Jesus they will go anywhere and eat anything in order to preach the gospel - Waves of young people into the nations!
The school does have a surfing element to it – but it is also for NON-SURFING people who enjoy the beach culture. So while you DON’T have to be a surfer to come, many people take the opportunity to learn while they are here. Each Waves DTS has a specific surf outreach option where students can impact some of the world’s most un-reached people at an epic surfing location.

The DTS is divided into 2 parts:
Part 1 – lecture phase
Spend the first 12 weeks living in a full on discipleship community located just a stones throw from the beach. Make new friends and learn about God together with young people from all over the world who are also passionately seeking God's heart. Each week we have guest speakers who come from dynamic ministries to share awesome truths - covering topics like: Hearing God's voice, The Father Heart of God, Relationships, Spiritual Warfare, and World Missions! Each day you will experience time alone with God, group interaction, instruction, fellowship, anointed worship in the presence of God, and free time to head to the beach, catch some waves, and process all that God is doing! There will also be weekly outreach opportunities to put what you are learning into practice through local outreaches.
The Sunny Coast is ‘beautiful one day and perfect the next’. Encounter God in the surf, hanging out on one of our beautiful sandy beaches, or just enjoying the view from a coffee shop.
Go inland and hike through the bush to clear waterfalls. As a school you will also have group times to play volleyball or soccer on the beach before watching the sunset while enjoying a great Aussie barbeque!
Part 2 – outreach phase
After the lecture phase, you will put what you have learned into practice on a cross-cultural outreach. This is where the real adventure begins! Travel to strategic far-out locations – hacking through the jungle, trekking through deserts, climbing mountains, or surfing epic waves to reach un-reached peoples, plant churches, and bring hope through development projects that will transform a community and open the way for the gospel. On outreach, you will be stretched to “live out” the principles learned during the lecture phase, while reaching the lost in practical ways. Team dynamics come alive as people share their gifts, talents, and lives in ministry opportunities. Outreach is a great opportunity to create friendships with others while having an eternal impact. It is also a great way to test your call to world missions.
Recent outreaches have gone to the Middle East, Asia, Pacific Islands, and Australia. As a base we have a commitment to minister to Indonesia. We have been there every year since 1996. The cross-cultural outreach is an awesome experience! Your life will be changed as you step out in faith to share the good news, heal the sick, demonstrate His compassion, bind up broken hearts, and love the unloved.
